Z.E to Korea as the country's first mass-produced, electric car.
The zero emission, electric SM3 is a purely electric vehicle with no range extender. It has a 182km range on a charge. Its engine produces 94hp and 226Nm with a 135km/h top speed. It uses 24kWh Li-ion battery pack installed in the trunk. The car also has regenerative braking to maximize range. It can be recharged with either a 220V outlet at home or Samsung will offer a 400V quick charger that can charge the car in 30 minutes.
Renault Samsung plans to offer the cars to consumers, car rental agencies and taxi services
Renault Samsung is also setting up a Quick Drop infrastructure in Korea that allows drivers to drop off their batteries and pick up a new pack to extend driving range.
The SM3 Z.E is produced in Busan, Korea, and sales will begin in 2013.
