Rumors are emerging that Lexus might be considering a second generation of its LFA halo car, but where the LFA started at $375,000 in the US, Lexus is aiming the successor to cost closer to $800,000 or more. Of course, to back up the extra cost, Lexus is will roughly double the new car's output, which would bring power to within 1,000hp.
Where the current LFA has been limited to 500 cars, the next car could be limited to just 100 vehicles.
The LFA has done what is was meant to do - brought attention to the Lexus brand. Lexus has regularly raced the car in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring since well before the car was ever on sale. It also made sure to give the car a prominent role in video games and other media to make it seep into the Lexus persona.
There are no firm specifications for the new Lexus supercar yet or even if it will truly be a second generation of the LFA or something radically different. It is nice to see Lexus making an attempt to modify its usual green, luxurious image with more powerful cars.
