in Las Vegas and began building new Cobras continuing from the original serial numbers. Since then, the company has built thousands of Cobras that take the look of the original car and add modern technology. Shelby American’s latest offering is a reimagining of the early racing Cobras that created his cars’ legacy on the track.

The new Shelby Cobra FIA 289 is being built for the 50th anniversary of the Cobra and will be limited to 50 cars, which is ten times the number of original 289 FIA racers that Shelby originally built. Shelby American already offered a replica of the Cobra FIA 289, but these 50th anniversary cars get several special additions.

All of the car will be painted either Viking Blue or Arctic White, and both colors come with FIA racing stripes. They also come with a special billet aluminum logo that says “50th Anniversary FIA Cobra 1964-2014.” Like the original Cobra racers, the car features a simplified dashboard, wider front and rear fenders and shortened doors. For modern safety, the wheels feature a simulated center lock that is actually a removable panel that hides the wheel nuts.
