Subaru has introduced an all-new crossover concept at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show named the ‘XV’.
The funky five-seat SUV aims to define a new generation of crossovers with a design concept focus called ‘Protren’ – Subaru’s clever portmanteau of ‘Professional tool’ and ‘trendy design.’
The XV Concept’s exterior is classic Subaru with a modern twist thanks to its sharp lines and solid styling. Standard Subaru elements are featured including the hexagonal grille and black hawk-eye headlights, while the ‘fashionable’ alloy wheels contain a contrast of silver spokes, black rims and clear blue centre caps. Subaru is calling the colour of the XV Concept “Electro Yellowgreen”, which appears as if it will be the only available finish.
The few interior details that Subaru has given away include heavy usage of ‘silvery white’ leather as seat material, sporty mesh in selected areas and a three-part multifunction display in the centre panel for navigation, audio and vehicle information. Also included is Subaru’s ‘Eyesight’ system which feeds images from stereo cameras to an LCD monitor on the instrument panel.
The only powertrain details released by the manufacturer so far is that the XV will feature Subaru’s patented 2.0-liter four cylinder Horizontally-Opposed DOHC engine connected to a CVT transmission.
