is getting its own class and one-make racing series as part of the VLN racing series at the Nürburgring in 2014, and Toyota is putting up €86,000 in prize money to the drivers.

. Toyota is guaranteeing that it will support the series for at least the 2014 and 2015 racing seasons.

“The GT86 is a perfect car for production-based motorsport. It already looks fantastic and has superb handling, so with further performance and safety upgrades we have created a really exciting and competitive car which is extremely cost effective," said Toyota Motorsport GmbH President Yoshiaki Kinoshita.

The winning GT86 Cup team will receive €25,000 while second place will take home €18,000, and third place will get €13,000. Prize money will be awarded through eighth place, which will receive €4,000, for a total of €86,000 in prize money being offering. The teams will also receive free racing tires from Pirelli.

The series will run through ten events at the Nürburgring from March 29 through October 25. The Nürburgring 24 Hours is not one of the events on the GT86 Cup schedule, but the cars are eligible for the race, if teams desire to race in it.

The CS-V3 is an evolution of the car that Toyota Motorsports GmbH entered into the Nürburgring VLN in early 2012. It uses the same 200hp, 2.0-liter boxer engine as the standard car but features a stiffened chassis with improved weight distribution, a racing exhaust, upgraded brakes and adjustable suspension. Prices start at €38,500 for the car without local taxes.

Depending on the popularity of the CS-V3, Toyota is considering adding a higher performance Cup version in the future. It will also offer the CS-V3 in rally configuration next year.
