is getting some tech and style upgrades this summer not to mention the new tri-turbo diesel from the M Performance cars. 

The biggest change for the revised 7 Series is a new grill with 9 slats instead of 12. It also has standard, full LED headlights. The lower part of the grill has also been revised slightly. The side mirrors also have integrated turn signals. The rear gets a thin chrome strip connecting the reflectors on the rear apron.

Inside, BMW added new leather seats with more lateral support there is also more sound deadening, especially in the rear. The front passengers also get a new 10.25in screen to display iDrive and navigation. BMW is also offering the Rear Seat Entertainment package that adds a 9.2in screens to the rear seats. It is also adding an optional 1,200 watt Bang & Olufsen stereo with 16 radios. Among the other optional features are night vision and High Beam Assist.

Most of the engines are carried over from the previous version, but there is the new tri-turbo diesel as well. The new engine is the diesel 3.0l, tri-turbo inline-six with 381hp and 546lb-ft in the 750d xDrive. The 740d740dBMW 740dGermany, 2009 > present1 photo
uses a 3.0 liter turbo diesel with 313hp and 465lb-ft, which is 22lb-ft better than before. The bottom diesel is the 730d730dBMW 730dGermany, 2010 > present1 photo
with the turbocharged 3.0l inline-six with 258hp and 413lb-ft, which is 15lb-ft better than before.

The top of the line petrol engine is the turbocharged 6.0l V12 with 544hp and 553lb-ft of torque in the 760i760iBMW 760iGermany, 2012 > present1 photo

uses a turbocharged 4.4l V8 with 450hp and 479lb-ft that is a 10% increase in horsepower for this year. The 740i740iBMW 740iGermany, 2012 > present1 photo
uses a turbocharged 3.0l engine with 320hp and 332lb-ft of torque. In some markets it will also offer the naturally aspirated 3.0l inline-six with 258hp and 229lb-ft as the 730i730iBMW 730iGermany, 2012 > present2 photos
. All of the engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle uses an air ride suspension.

The final engine change is the ActiveHybrid 7ActiveHybrid 7BMW ActiveHybrid 7Germany, 2012 > present2 photos
. While the model was offered before, it now uses a turbocharged, six-cylinder engine with a hybrid. It has a total power of 354hp and 369lb-ft of torque and uses 6.8l/100km. The previous model had used a hybrid turbo V8 that was faster but used more fuel.

The new 7 Series will be available later this year. The changes will also be on the long wheelbase version.
