To celebrate the launch of the new 2012 Beetle in the United States, Volkswagen of North America has announced the Beetle Black Turbo. Limited to 600 cars and available through pre-order only, the Black Turbo comes only in black, obviously, and has a turbocharged 2.0 liter TSI engine making 200hp and DSG dual-clutch transmission.
It will come with a slew of equipment that is usually optional including Ipod and Bluetooth connectivity, larger brakes, 18in alloy wheels, rear spoiler, and foglights.
The Beetle Black Turbo can only be ordered via VW's new vehicle pre-order program. Prospective owners buyers visit www.VW.com/preorder, enter his or her zip code, select a dealer and pay a $495 reservation fee. When the buyer purchases the car, the fee will be removed from the $24,950 MSRP. If the buyer changes his or her mind, then VW promises a “no-hassle” refund policy.
VW says that the pre-order program will also be available for the Beetle when it launches the 2.5 four-cylinder powered Beetle and TDI Beetle when they are launched in Fall 2011 and 2012 respectively.
