For Aston Martin enthusiast Peter Read, Zagato built the DB9 Spyder Zagato CentennialDB9 Spyder Zagato CentennialAston Martin DB9 Spyder Z...United Kingdom, 2013 > present.

Zagato’s stylists gave the Spyder a much sharper, more angular look than the standard production version. The nose is blunted, and from some angles it appears that the top of the nose sticks out farther than the bottom. The rear has a similar cut-off look with the lights recessed into the tail.

“The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial perfectly merges Aston Martin and Zagato’s DNA by combining the elegance of design, typical of Zagato, with the soul, power and prestige of Aston Martin, all developed over the last 100 years. This car personifies the timelessness of the Aston Martin/Zagato marque,” said Read about his car.

The DBS Coupe Zagato CentennialDBS Coupe Zagato CentennialAston Martin DBS Coupe Za...United Kingdom, 2013 > present was built for a Japanese enthusiast and features the double-bubble roof from Zagato’s cars of the 50s. The one-off car is supposed to be a modern interpretation of the 2001 DB7 ZagatoDB7 ZagatoAston Martin DB7 ZagatoUnited Kingdom, 2002 > present5 photos

Compared to the Spyder, the Coupe has more swooping lines and a more retro look. The roof especially evokes the style of 60s European GT cars. It also has the complicated double bubble that flows into the rear window like the DB7 Zagato.

“Our challenge was to bring sporty styling together with a more Mediterranean luxury GT feel, all with typical Zagato quality,” said designer Norihiko Harada

Both cars are one-offs that were made to order for their buyers.
