Nissan unveiled the third generation Murano crossover the New York Motor Show. The design of the model is strongly inspired by the concept Resonance.
Due to the great similarity between the third gen Murano and Resonance Nissan describes the third generation as a concept that came to the showrooms. The Murano gets a new V-shaped grille, which has been introduced on all brand new models, and also the floating roof Resonance.
Compared to the second generation, the Murano is slightly lower, wider and longer. The vehicle suffered an aerodynamic improvement of 16%, made possible thanks to details such as shutters in the grille, the profiling of the bumper and rear spoiler. Nissan managed to achieve a 0.31 drag coefficient, the same as the LFA.
At launch, the Murano is offered with a 3.5 V6 petrol engine of 260hp coupled with an X- tronic CVT. Nissan expects fuel consumption to lower about 20% due to a 58kg lighter fuel tank.
The interior of the Murano was also inspired by the Resonance and Nissan opted for premium materials in the coating. The Japanese brand describes the interior of the new Muarano as a lounge, that offers a " comfortable and inviting " space. The panels have been simplified and contain 60% less buttons and the instrument panel was mounted in a lower position.
The vehicle gets front and rear Zero Gravity seats inspired by NASA. The second row receives a triple seat design.
