The Astra OPC Extreme was unveiled by Opel at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The German brand had already unveiled the design of the vehicle and announced the possibility of a future production version. Now it revealed the dynamics of the performance car.

The vehicle has racing genes and has been developed in the most demanding track in the world, the great Nürburgring. It is equipped with a 2.0 Turbo engine that delivers over 300hp of power and integrates multiple components sourced from its racing 'counterpart' from the Opel Astra OPC Cup. The Astra OPC Extreme was developed directly from the Cup version and brings racing technology to the road.

Under the carbon fiber hood of the Extreme lies the most powerful four-cylinder engine ever produced by Opel. The radical version is equipped with a manual six-speed gearbox and a limited slip differential. The OPC Extreme is 100kg lighter than the Astra OPC thanks to several components manufactured in carbon fiber.

Thanks to the achieved weight reduction, the Astra OPC Extreme is more agile and has better overall dynamic behavior. The improvement in power to weight ratio allows the Extreme to curve more accurately. The springs and dampers of the suspension are adjustable as a racing car.

Also in terms of design, the Astra OPC Extreme goes beyond the Astra OPC.The rear seat includes a roll bar, while the driver and passenger enjoy a special Recaro bucket seats and six-point Schroth safety belts. The steering wheel is carbon reinforced and lined with suede. In various sections of the body, inside and out, there are signature detailing from Opel Motorsport, like the sills and the front spoiler.
