History

The Carrera GT was the first supercar with limited production since 1988, when the 959 production was terminated. The decision to produce the Carrera GT was pending since 2000, when the first prototype was debuted at Geneva Motor Show. The production started in 2003 and ended one year earlier than planned, in 2005. Only 1270 units were manufactured. Half of them were exported to the United States of America.

Engine and Transmission

When it comes to supercars, super engines are expected. The Porsche Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7 litre V10 engine, an upgraded version of the one featured in the concept car. The top speed is 330 km/h and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The Carrera GT has a six-speed manual transmission.

Body and Design

The Porsche Carrera GT has carbon fiber monocoque and weights 1380 kg. The length is 4613 mm, the width is 1920 mm and it is 1166 mm tall, with the crankshaft rotating at 102 mm from the ground.

A wing across the rear gives the car stability by gluing it to the ground. When the car reaches 120 km/h, it is automatically raised 15 cm.

The interior is sober with focuses on function. The car is available is five colors: red, yellow, black, silver and grey.
