The biggest feature of the new generation is the inclusion of a hybrid version on the model’s range: the Cayenne S Hybrid. This version will be equipped with Porsche’s parallel full hybrid drive, achieving a fuel consumption of 8.2 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 193 g/km.
The Cayenne S Hybrid is powered by a three-litre supercharged V6 and an electric motor. The intelligent interaction between both of them results in a maximum output of 380 bhp and a peak torque of 580 Nm/427 lb-ft at just 1,000 rpm.
Controlled by the Hybrid Manager, the two drive units are connected to each other by a separator clutch that manages if the vehicle will be running either on its electric motor or combustion engine alone, or with both drive units operating together.
Besides the Hybrid version the new Cayenne will be available in four other versions: Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne Turbo. According to Porsche three of the five versions of the Cayenne should consume less than ten litres per 100 km and two of them will have CO2 emissions under 200 g/km, as part of the brand’s intent to develop vehicles with “more power on less fuel, greater efficiency and lower CO2 emissions”.
