Puma Indústria de Veículos S.A. was a specialist sports car founded in Brazil by Rino Malzoni , Luís Roberto da Costa, Milton Masteguin and Mario César Camargo Filho. The object was to build a car based on the DKW-Malzoni, which Rino Malzoni had been producing in Matão, São Paulo, since 1964. The company was hit by the 1980’s Brazilian economic crisis and In 1985 and 1987 the Puma trademark was sold first to "Araucária S.A. and subsequently to Alfa Metais, but the opening of the Brazilian market to foreign cars dictated the Puma’s death. The last Puma was built in 1997. There is an attempt to revive the Puma in South Africa where the car is being produced, though in small numbers, since 2006.
