The 1926 40CV was a car built by Renault to beat Bentley's 24-hour world speed record, which had already belonged to Renault. The new version of the 40CV set ot for the high-speed banked circuit at Montlhéry. During the 24 hours Garfield, Plessier and Guillon covered 4,167.578km at an average speed of 173.649 km/h.
With the 40CV the drivers broke the 1000 and 2000 mile, as well as the 2000, 3000 and 4000km records.
