The Sauber C9, later renamed Sauber Mercedes C9, is a prototype race car launched in 1987 as a result of a partnership between Sauber as a constructor and Mercedes as engine supplier for the World Sportscar Championship.
The C9 had its debut at the 1987 season with Kouros Racing team and got a modest 12th place. It wasn't until 1989 that the car reached success by winning all the races of the season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the exception of one race.
In 1990 the C9 was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz (Sauber) C11.
