Alfa Romeo officially launched the first Giulia model in June 1962 at the Monza Autodrome. The first Giulia series was produced for 10 years – until 1972.

The first series Giulias were offered either a 1.3-liter (1290 cc) or a 1.6-liter (1570 cc) engine, which work with a rear-wheel drive system. These cars could produce from 78 hp up to 112 hp, achieving their top speed at around 106 mi/h (170 km/h). Depending on the cars’ trim levels, 4- and 5-speed gearboxes were fitted on the series I Giulias.

Alfa Romeo
The Italian automaker Alfa Romeo was founded in 1910, although its roots precede that date. It was actually in 1906, when Milanese aristocrat Cavaliere Ugo Stella and French car manufacturer Alexandre Darracq combined efforts to build an automobile plant, that the Darracq Italiana, former Alfa Romeo company, was established in Naples. Later that year, headquarters of the company were moved to the city of Milan.
