Engine and Transmission

A 2.0-liter Honda K20Z engine is responsible for giving 245 hp to the regular Atom 3 version. The top-of-the-range model, however, is given the 2.0 L 300 hp GM Ecotec engine. According to the company itself, the powerful Ariel Atom 3 goes from 0 to 60 mi/h in just 2.7 seconds and goes on up to a limit of 140/150 mi/h (230/240 km/h).
  The Ariel 3 is also given an Honda 6-speed transmission with reverse.

Chassis

Hand-built exposed tubular chassis (exoskelet).   Platform     Suspension The Atom’s suspension consists on fully adjustable front and rear double unequal length wishbones and inboard, together with front and rear adjustable pushrod-operated dampers and heavy coil springs.   Steering     Brakes Front and rear drilled and ventilated discs.

Trivia

In 2004, BBC’s motor show Top Gear had its host Jeremy Clarkson testing the Ariel Atom and remarkably performing faster than a Porsche Carrera GT and a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640.   The Ariel Atom is also featured in several video games: Xbox 360’s Project Gotham Racing 3 and 4, plus TOCA Racedriver 3 (for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC).
