The Ford B-Max was presented a concept car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show but was only officially launched at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Ford has engineered the B-Max to be a utilitarian vehicle for urban areas. The doors open wide to allow easy access and the interior counts with a large cargo area. To do this, Ford has built the B-pillar into the doors.

The B-Max will use Ford'd new 1.0 liter Ecoboost engine as an engine option. Ford is making two tunes of the the 1.0 Ecoboost: 125ps and 100ps. The B-Max will also use Ford's Duratorq TDCi diesels.
The B-Max will be produced at Ford's new factory in Craiova, Romania.

Ford has had its B-Max tested, and it has been rated as the best vehicle in its class in terms of fuel economy and emissions for both its petrol and diesel engines.
The 1.6 liter TDCi diesel with 95ps delivers 104g/km of CO2 emissions and 4.0l/100km of fuel consumption. The 1.0 liter Ecoboost with 120ps has produces 114g/km and 4.9l/100km of petrol fuel consumption.
The B-Max comes with auto stop/start, an Eco Mode information system, Gear Shift indicator and Regenerative Braking to recharge the battery.
Ford considers the B-Max's rivals the Opel Meriva, Citroen C3 Picasso and Renault Grand Modus.
