The Renault Alpine GTA was presented at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show and was built to replace the A310.
French car builder Alpine, subsidiary of Renault, built the car from 1986 to 1991 with components and engines from Renault.
Contrary to its Renault-Alpine predecessors, the GTA wasn’t just a result of a partnership between Alpine and Renault, but the first Alpine car built under full control of the Renault company.
It would be replaced in 1991 for its successor, the A610.

The rear-engined and rear-wheel driven GT initially came with a normally aspirated 2849 cc engine that produced 160 hp. This engine’s displacement, however, was later decreased to 2.5 L.
A turbocharged version was also added to the range with a 3.0-liter displacement and 200 hp.
The top speed achieved by the non-turbocharged GTs is at 146 mi/h (235 km/h), while the turbocharged version reached up to 160 mi/h (250 km/h).
The GT is driven through a 5-speed manual transmission.
