In 2012, Chevrolet announced that it brings a Holden Commodore-based performance sedan to the US, called the SS. The sedan races in Nascar in 2013 and debuts to American buyers in late 2013 as a 2014 model.
It is a rear-wheel drive, V8-powered sedan. The car is based on the same chassis as the Camaro and Holden VF Commodore, and the SS will be built in Australia.
The SS debuts on track at the 2013 Daytona 500 Nascar race. The SS goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013, and Chevrolet will announce prices then.
The SS designation was first used on the Corvette in 1957 and has been used on many of Chevy's high performance models since then. The first production car to use the designator was the 1961 Impala SS.
