Built by SsangYong between 1983 and 2006 and since 2010 onwards, the Korando is a compact 4x4 SUV which gets its name from a contraction of "Korea Can Do".

The first generation Korando was first built by Geohwa Company and from 1985 onwards by Dong-A Motor, SsangYong's predecessor. Only in 1986 when SsangYong Group acquired Dong-A Motor and changed its name to SsangYong Motor Company did the Korando recieve its current badge.

After halting in 2006 the production of the Korando at the end of its third generation, Ssangyong resurrected the name in 2010 with the C200 codenamed vehicle. The Korando was the first car to be released as part of SsangYong's revised lineup. The decision to name the C200 the Korando was done so by SsangYong importers.
