First presented as the Sutoriga concept at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show, the Subaru Forester is a crossover manufactred by the Japanese brand since 1997.

Up to its third generation the Forester shared its platform with the Impreza and currently features a hybrid platform of the Japanese Impreza wagon and the rear platform of the U.S.-spec Impreza sedan.

The Forester was conceived and developed with four-wheel drive (AWD) as standard equipment.
