The Whisky-Powered Nissan Leaf
Well, not exactly. The Bruichladdich Whisky Distillery on the Hebridean Islands on the west coast of Scotland takes the biomass made as a byproduct of the whisky distillation process and adds bacteria to create a combustible bio-gas that they use to create the electricity that runs the distillery. Since last year, Mark Reynier, Bruichladdich's managing director, has used a Nissan Leaf as his personal car, and it is charged from the whisky making process.
