A Miniature Edition of Car Videos to Brighten Your Weekend

Car Videos to Brighten Your Weekend is quite short this week. Usually we have a big theme with five or more videos, but this week I am toying with just a few videos that I find incredibly good.

The first one is a recent Hungarian review of the Honda NSX. The cinematography is amazing; the sound is great and I like the Hungarian host. The Youtube link says that he looks like the Hungarian Wolverine, which is kind of accurate. There are a lot of fantastic images of the NSX driving around Budapest on a rainy night. The end of the video shows the car lapping the Slovakia Ring.

Next up is a vintage clip of Bruce McLaren teaching how to do a lap in a McLaren M1 from 1964 or 1965 in the Can-Am series. This is from the earliest days of the series before the 1,000+ horsepower Porsches and the insane Chaparral 2H. Still, the argument can be made the McClaren's success in this series as a constructor is the reason there are McClaren GT cars today.

Finally, here is a fantastically filmed 2012 video from a vintage rally on the roads around Spa circuit. You will get to see and here a variety of European sports car icons including: a Lancia Delta S4 Group B car, Talbot Sunbeam rally car, Ferrari 308, a vast assortment of 911 and Ford Escorts and many more. Sound is great, and the weather is awful.

Note on the vintage rally video: and a Saab, wow. It's also nice to see how the Escorts can always put on a good show, not being the quickest cars around.

I would love to discuss the Escort with someone from Europe. In the US, the Escort was never more than a very boring econo-box. There is this whole bizarro history of the Escort as a working class spo...

Well I'm no expert but that pretty much sums it up... the Escort, in various generations, had a respectable presence in the rally world and is still cherished by many in "classic" circuits, not so muc...
