It has been a long wait, but Ron Howard's new film "Rush" about the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda during the 1976 season has finally released its first official trailer.
"Rush" stars Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt and Daniel Brühl as Niki Lauda. The film is scheduled for release on September 13 in the UK and September 20 in the US. It will roll out through the rest of Europe during September and October.
The two-minute-long trailer gives a great indication of the movie's basic story. James Hunt is the womanizing playboy who races all-out with pure skill. Niki Lauda is the cold, precise tactician. The story takes place during the 1976 Formula 1 season, Lauda took an early lead after a string of retirements from Hunt, but Lauda had his famous crash at the Nürburgring midway through the season. Hunt won in Germany setting up a late-season rivalry between the two drivers.
Howard collected many of the actual cars and filmed at the actual tracks for the film. Lauda's crash at the Nürburgring was shot at the actual corner where the event really happened.
This looks like a film every F1 fan will have to see.
