McCartney ordered the car with a record player

*Update: The car just crossed the auction block and sold for £307,500 ($496,613 or €384,375). That is only just above the low estimate of €300,000.

RM Auctions is holding a major auction in London on October 31 for a collection of very fun cars. The cars for auction go from a DAF 33 Variomatic33 De LuxeDAF 33 De LuxeNetherlands, 1972 > present4 photos

for sale. Among all of the cool cars is something very special - a 1964 Aston Martin DB5DB5Aston Martin DB5United Kingdom, 1963 > 19653 photos
that was previously owned by Paul McCartney. RM expects it to sell for betweeen £300,000-£380,000.

McCartney was the car's first owner and ordered it to his own specifications. It is believed to be the first Aston Martin that McCartney owned. He ordered the car shortly after The Beatles famous performance on the Ed Sullivan Show and just after finishing filming of A Hard Day's Night. It was assembled on July 3, 1964, in Sierra Blue with a black leather interior. The options ordered included the Armstrong Selectaride rear shock absorbers, chrome wire wheels, a Motorola radio, and a Philips Auto-Mignon record player. McCartney owned the car for six years.

The car has been reupholstered in the meantime, but the owner has an original swatch of the interior if the new buyer wants to return the car as it was from the factory.

According to the records, the car has had five owners in its lifetime.

The current owner bought the car in 2002 and shipped it to Milan for restoration. The car was taken down to bare matal and repainted in Sierra Blue but a grey leather interior was fitted in place of the original black. In 2011, the owner has the car mechanically refreshed with repairs to the brakes and cylinder head.

We will update this post tomorrow with the car's sale price.
