is making a massive upgrade to its network of Supercharger EV charging stations. They will allow a Tesla owner to drive across the United States and Canada on renewable electric power for absolutely no cost. Owners of other electric vehicles can use the Supercharger network to charge their vehicles but at a price.
There will be new Superchargers in California, Canada, the Pacific Northwest, Texas and a network that allows driving from Illinois to Colorado. Within six months, the network will be in place to drive a Model STesla Model SUnited States of America, 2012 > present7 versions

The Tesla Supercharger uses solar energy to store electric power in batteries that is then consumed by Tesla's cars. When the solar power has been consumed, the Supercharger is also connected to the local power grid to provide electricity. In about 30 minutes, it will charge the Model S to 80% and provide between two hours and three hours of driving.
According to founder Elon Musk, even if there were a zombie apocalypse in the US, a Tesla owner would still be able to drive across the country and use the Supercharger network.
The Tesla Supercharger was unveiled in October 2012 and allowed drivers to travel throughout California and parts of the East Coast on electric power.
