The premium range of
Volvo is getting ready to receive a new member at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The
V90 estate will join the XC90 and S90, thus completing the first phase of renovation of the range of the Swedish brand. The same safety systems and efficient e-Drive engines available in the
XC90 and S90 will also be included in the V90 range. The arrival on the market is scheduled for the end of the year.
Visually the V90 features similar shapes to the S90, while it is inspired by the Concept Estate concept unveiled in 2014. The interior of the V90 was developed like the S90 with a large screen touch for the infotainment system and digital control panel.
Regarding engines, the main highlight is the hybrid plug-in powertrain from the
T8 Twin Engine, which combines an electric motor of 87hp with the 320hp 2.0-liter petrol engine which allows a combined output of 407hp, with torque of 640Nm. With this powertrain the V90 can reach 100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and Volvo announces an average fuel consumption of 2.1l/100km and CO2 emissions of 47g/km.
The remaining range of the new V90 will consist of only 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. The T5 petrol version with 254hp has an average fuel consumption of 6.8l/100km and CO2 emissions of 154g/km. The T6 AWD is the most powerful petrol version with a total of 320hp and will be one of the most popular with an average consumption of 7.4l/100km and CO2 emissions of 169g/km.
Regarding diesel engines, the D4 will be the best-selling version of the range with 190hp and an average fuel consumption of 4.5l/100km with CO2 emissions of 119g/km. The range is completed by the D5 AWD 235hp which features an average fuel consumption of 4.9l/100km and CO2 emissions of 129g/km.
The new V90 estate shares the same security technology as the S90 and the XC90. This includes the IntelliSafe Assist system, adaptive cruise control, the semi-autonomous Pilot II Assist system and distance alert. Lane assistance, traffic signs detection and driver fatigue alert systems are part of the technology featured in the V90.
