to develop a hybrid system for light trucks and SUVs. The two companies first announced the agreement in August 2011. The two companies will develop hybrid technology separately.

Ford says that it still has interest in a hybrid system created specifically for trucks and SUVs, and the tech will be ready by 2020.

Toyota has sold over two million hybrid vehicles in the US alone and has 70% of the US market share. It has sold over five million hybrids worldwide.

It plans to have 18 new or refreshed hybrid models on sale by the end of 2015. It currently offers 12 hybrids in the US and 20 worldwide.

Ford had its best hybrid sales ever in the second quarter of 2013. It sold 24,217 of them in the US, up 517% from last year and up 15% from the first quarter. Ford has a 16% market share of hybrids in the United States.

Toyota and Ford are still working together on next generation standards for telematics.
