at Le Mans in 2012.

“It is certainly going to be a very unique experience to go that fast with electric power – especially since Fuji’s main straight is nearly a mile long.

“We’re only doing a demonstration run but I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of top speed we’ll see on the straight,” said Krumm.

The ZEOD RC, which stands for Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car, is the Garage 56 entry for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. Nissan says that it has not decided on a specific electric drivetrain yet but is testing several options. The goal for the car is to be able to run laps faster than a GTE car but running completely on electric power.

GT Academy winner Lucas Ordonez will be the car’s official test driver during European development.

Nissan says that the technology from the ZEOD will likely be applied to a future LMP1 car.
