and 4C Spider is the retractable roof, which will initially be in fabric. However, a carbon fiber hardtop option will be available from mid-2015.
The 4C Spider also received a carbon fiber panel which covers the rollover bar placed at the back of the cabin, single lens headlights and a new range of 17-inch and 18-inch wheels, front and rear respectively.
While retaining the same look of the coupe version, the 4C Spider saw its drag coefficient increase from 0.33 to 00.34 because of the new roof installation. Still Alfa Romeo managed to only increase weight by 10kg (1128kg). According to the brand the glass of the windshield and side windows is 10% thinner than the 4C.
The new 4C Spider will be powered by the same mid-engine turbo four-cylinder 1.7-liter of the 4C. Combined with the six-speed TCT dual-clutch transmission the engine offers 237hp of output and 350Nm of torque. This box allows driving in four distinct modes: All Weather, Natural, Dynamic and Race. In Race mode the 4C Spider can reach 100km/h in about 4.1 seconds.
