have revealed the first images of the new GT Roadster, the new open top two seater that will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show. The new variant will be launched with two versions the GT RoadsterGT RoadsterAMG GT RoadsterGermany, 2016 > present and the more powerful GT C RoadsterGT C RoadsterAMG GT C RoadsterGermany, 2016 > present.

The design of the new GT Roadster is based on the GT R version launched back in June. It features AMG's grille inspired on the 300 SL Panamericana with a modified shape which includes vertical chrome bars. To ensure a better cooling of the engine as well as aerodynamic properties it gets the same active air management system that was first seen on the GT R. A series of  vertical louvres within the grille automatically open and close depending on the temperature of the engine to enhance cooling or to control the amount of airflow.

The GT R Roadster gets a distinct and more defined splitter element in the lower section of the front bumper, larger air ducts and more defined sills underneath the doors. The standard GT Roadster was fitted with the same bumpers of the existing GT CoupéGTAMG GTGermany, 2014 > present, while the GT C Roadster features a 57mm wider bodywork of the GT RGT RAMG GT RGermany, 2016 > present.

the new GT Roadster has been fitted with an automatic fabric roof. With a three-layer structure it has an aluminium, magnesium and steel frame it covers the two-seat cabin. It can open and close automatically in 11 seconds at a speed up to 50km/h.

The two GT Roadster versions share the same twin-charged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine with the Coupé variant. However in the Roadster model power has increased to 476hp in the GT Roadster and to 557hp in the GT C Roadster. Torque has also increased to 630 and 680Nm respectively. Both versions have been combined with a seven-speed Speedshift dual clutch transmission.

The GT Roadster is available with four driving modes through its Dynamic Select controller: Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. A fifth Race mode was added to the more performance focused GT C Roadster.

According to Mercedes-AMG the GT Roadster can sprint to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 302km/h. The more powerful GT C Roadster sprints in less 0.1 seconds than the GT S CoupéGT SAMG GT SGermany, 2014 > present with 3.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 316km/h.

Announced fuel consumption figures are 9.4l/100km for the GT Roadster and 11.4l/100km for the GT C Roadster, with respective CO2 emission ratings of the 219g/km and 259g/km.
