Skoda reveals new generation Fabia

Skoda believes the new generation will help boost sales in Europe

Skoda has unveiled the design of the new generation Fabia, a preview of the official presentation which will be held in October at the Paris Motor Show.

believes that the new generation will help boost sales in Europe.

In terms of the dimensions Fabia maintains four meters in length, but is 30mm lower and 90mm wider in comparison to its predecessor. Besides allowing increased cabin space, the new dimensions of the Fabia give a stronger and more contemporary. The cargo space may have been increase to about 330 liters.

Skoda's Design Director Jozef Kaban claims that the new model marks a decisive change in the design language of the brand.

"In recent years, Skoda has earned name by producing cars with great functionality, and above average inner space," said Kaban. "We feel that now is the right time to create a stronger link between the functionality of our cars and an expressive and emotional design."

According to Kaban, Skoda has focused on creating a more sporty vehicle with a more pronounced design during the development process of the new Fabia. Skoda's Design Director points out that "the result is a compact, fresh and young modern car that sets new standards in its segment."

Engine Range

With the new generation Fabia, Skoda bets on efficiency and reduction of CO2 emissions. The range of the new model at launch will be composed of four petrol and three diesel engines. All of them will comply with EU6 emission standards.

The range of petrol engines includes three-and four-cylinder engines. 1.0 MPI engines have three cylinders and indirect injection, while four-cylinder turbo 1.2 TSI versions have stratified injection. The power ranges from 60 to 110hp.

Diesel engines include three versions of the same 1.4 three-cylinder turbocharged engine turbocharged with direct injection. The power varies between 74 and 103hp. The new Skoda Fabia will be combined with a manual gearbox or a DSG dual clutch transmission.

Skoda also announced the launch of a new Greenline version atthe end of 2015 that will be based on the 75hp 1.4 liter diesel engine. According to the Czech brand the new version will have an average fuel consumption of 3.1l/100km and will produce 82g/km of CO2 emissions. In general Skoda says the new Fabia range will be 17% more efficient than the current generation.
