Mazda Increases Skyactiv Production by 25%

It will build in 1.7 million Skyactiv engines by 2016

is having such success with its Skyactiv envines that its Hiroshima engine factory is expanding capacity to build 25% more engines by the end of 2014, which will allow it to build 1 million Skyactiv engines a year. 

The expansion will add a new engine line, and the line used for the previous MZR engines will be renovated to build Skyactiv engines. 

By 2016, Mazda wants to build 1.7 million Skyactiv engines a year, and it believes 80% of its cars will use the engine family by that time.

Mazda also started building them at its factory in China in June, and its Mexican factory will begin building Skyactiv engines by in the first quarter of 2014. 

As Mazda introduces new cars, it has been adding Skyactiv engine options to them.
