The i20 WRC’s most recent test came on gravel stages in southern Spain with test drivers Bryan Bouffier and Juho Hänninen.

The test was meant to evaluate the car’s high altitude performance for rounds like Mexico on the WRC calendar. The focus was on the engine’s power was affected at well above sea level. The team also evaluated the car’s gravel setup while there.

The car has already completed tarmac test sessions in Germany, France and Finland in the previous months, and Hyundai says that it will be ready to go racing in January.

“For the last couple of months we’ve tested every two weeks on all kinds of conditions and surfaces to continue the collection of valuable feedback and data,” said Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Michel Nandan.

Hyundai plans to continually test the car ahead of its debut in three months.
