The Triumph Motor Company was a British automobile manufacturer that was declared defunct in 1984, after ceasing car production. Triumph was based at Coventry, England, ever since its foundation in 1885 under the name Bettmann & Co.
The company actually set off as a bicycle producer and not until 1989 did they begin building Triumph-badged cars. The inactive Triumph make is now possessed by German carmaker BMW.
