In March 1967, the third series of the Triumph Spitfire was revealed and it offered higher safety and performance levels. These cars were also given an actual facelift, contrary to what happens on the other Spitfire generations. Although a replacement for this car was ready in 1970, the Mk3 Spitfire was still in production through 1971. A total of 65.320 cars from this generation were built.

The Triumph Spitfire Mk3 is powered by a 1.3-liter (1296 cc) front engine, which is placed on a rear-wheel drive powertrain and assisted by a 4-speed manual transmission (with optional overdrive over the 3rd and 4th gears). The car delivers up to 75 hp, reaches its top speed at around 95 mi/h (153 km/h) and achieves 60 mi/h (97 km/h) in 12.5 seconds.
