Volvo V70 (Sweden, 1996-present)

The Volvo V70 is a mid-size five-door estate car manufactured by Volvo Cars since 1996 and that was introduced as a successor of the 850. For the first generation the V70 had 1,800 improved and new parts in the design from the original 850, including upgraded passive and active safety, better handling and new engines.

In 1999 a redesigned V70 was released, based on the-then new P2 platform. The new car left behind the boxy shape of Volvos before it and came closer to the lines of the S40/S60 series, and added a new more aggressively designed front end.

2007 marked the release of the third generation that was aimed and equipped to be slightly more up-market than the previous model, although being of the similar size externally.
