Volkswagen introduced the iBeetle at the Shanghai Motor Show. It is the first Volkswagen to incorporate a new dock specifically for the iPhone 5 that integrates most of the car’s entertainment functions into the iPhone.

The iBeetle editions come with 18in wheels, gray trim, black door sill plates and chrome badges. They are available in Candy White, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Black Monochrome, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Platinum Grey and Reflex Silver. Inside, they have black sport seats with brown leather trim.

The docking system works by having the phone download a special app that interfaces with the docking station. The docking station is on the dashboard, and the iPhone snaps into it. The iPhone’s functions can then be used by the Beetle including navigation, telephone and music. It can also use apps like Spotify. When the phone is docked, it can display extra instruments like a G-meter, oil and coolant temperatures, a clock, fuel economy or compass. It also downloads messages from Facebook and Twitter. The phone’s camera also still works, so drivers can take a picture of the inside of the car and share it.
