In 2010 Volkswagen premiered in Leipzig the second generation of its MPV, the Touran. After 1.13 million units of the first series were sold, the Touran appeared with an updated look, following Volkswagen’s “design DNA”. The 2010 Touran offers a range of eight engines.
With an output between 90 PS and 170 PS all the eight engines follow the Volkswagen downsizing principle, offering less engine displacement, lower emissions, lower fuel consumption at more torque. As for the diesel engines, the Touran is available with four turbodiesels. Although they produce the same amount of power as the engines of the previous generation, the TDIs are completely new with enhanced efficiency levels. The 1.6-litre four cylinder TDI is the entry-level engine of the quartet. It has an output of 90 PS, a combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.1 litres/100 km.
