Zakspeed was born in 1968 in Germany, by the hand of Erich Zakowski. The company began by tunning Ford’s cars. Because of its success in touring races, it evolved to endurance and F1 championchips. In F1, the team took some risks but it didn’t reach the competitive level they were hopping for, which made them return to their area of expertise: touring cars. However, in 2010, Zakspeed filed for insolvency.
