With the concept car IBE, Seat to presented its developments in the electric drive technology. The compact sports coupé was developed for urban mobility and offered some perspectives on the design of future Seat vehicles.
With less 25 centimetres than an Ibiza, the Seat IBE is 3.78 metres long. Its sport car proportions are completed with the 1.80 metres of width and 1.22 metres of height. The extremely low bonnet and the long roof line also lend the two-door vehicle a sporty look.
Besides the characteristic V of Seat’s “arrow design”, the front end features full-LED headlamps, with a new sophisticated design. The rear end is a reinterpretation of the front. The rear light clusters feature the LED light guide technology and show the “arrow” thematic with a hint of a diffuser beneath the rear bumper area that reflects the visual of the front air intakes.
This all-electric zero emission vehicle is powered by an electric engine located together with the power electronics beneath the bonnet, with the lithium-ion battery placed in the car’s rear. The IBE has a maximum output of 75 kW and 200 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. This performance is possible thanks to electric motor but also to the 1000 kilograms of weight of the Seat IBE. According to Seat, the battery, with a capacity of 18 kWh, has enough range “to cover all the daily mobility requirements of city life”.
The Seat IBE makes part of a Spanish project for the promotion and development of electric mobility in Spain. The IBE is a first step in this research supported by the Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation (CDTI).
