Produced by North American luxury brand Acura since 1996, the Acura RL is a mid-size luxury car, marketed in in Japan as the Honda Legend. Its name is an abbreviation for "Refined Luxury."
Known internally as "KA9,"the first generation of the RL was first introduced into the North American market in 1996 and was a similarly rebadged version of the third-generation Honda Legend. The model was developed to replace the second-generation Acura Legend.
Launched in late 2004, the second generation RL a rebadged version of the fourth-generation Honda Legend. In 2009 the RL received an extensive facelift.
