Renault unveiled its car created specifically for the video game Gran Turismo 6, part of the initiative Vision Gran Turismo.
As Alpine is preparing to return to the market in 2016 and the celebrations of its 60th anniversary are starting, Renault decided to create for its concept a futuristic version of an Alpine racing car.
As it has happened with other concepts from the series, no specific design element will reach the production, however some officials state that some features were directly inspired on the sports car design that will be launched next year.
The concepts is based on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and is equipped with a mid 4.5 liter V8 engine with 450hp and 560Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed sequential gearbox that allows the vehicle to reache a top speed of 320km/h. The concept weighs 900kg.
Renault describes the Vision Gran Turismo as a crossroad between the past, present and future of the history of Alpine. Like other brands, Renault produced a full-scale version of the concept.
Gran Turismo 6 players will be able to download the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo in March.
Let's now recall other concepts created for the Gran Turismo 6.
AMG Vision Gran Turismo
The design is meant to simultaneously evoke classic Mercedes models and the future. It features gullwing doors, a long, low hood and highly accentuated wheel arches. The radiator is inspired by the 300SL, but the louvers have been replaced by variable LEDs.
Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo
The designers of the German brand had complete freedom in terms of the vehicle development, leaving aside any production intent. The design of the GTI Roadster is up to the level of fame of the Gran Turismo series with highly sculpted and aggressive lines, but can still maintain some of Volkswagen's corporate identity.
BMW Vision Gran Turismo
BMW got inspired in its successful touring cars of the 1970s to create the digital vehicle. Still the brand managed to create a modern road racer that shows an image of speed even before getting on-track. With the front and rear spoilers to optimize the downforce, all elements of air circulation serve to reduce drag coefficient
Toyota FT-1
The wildly styled concept comes from Toyota’s Calty Design Research center in California that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The name means Future Toyota, and it claims that the “1” represents that it is the brand’s ultimate car.
Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo
The Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo is a vehicle that turns out to be an approach of what may prove to be a future high-performance model from Nissan
Aston Martin DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo
Developed in-house by the Design team at Aston Martin, DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo is a new, virtual-only GT racer that will be available for Gran Turismo 6 owners to download in July 2014
