The AMG GT is the successor of the SLS AMG and it's world premiere will take place at the Paris Motor Show.
The rear-wheel drive sports coupé from AMG shares some body elements with its predecessor, but is shorter, and marks the debut of a brand new V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo.

The sports model is available in two versions, GT and GT S.
Both versions are equipped with AMG's M178 engine. Created from scratch the new direct injection 4.0 liter V8 engine is the first production road car engine with two internal turbochargers. With a compact design this engine offers improved throttle response and reduced emissions, thanks to the proximity of the catalysts.
In the GT version the engine delivers 462hp and 600Nm of torque and can reach 100km/h in 4 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 304km/h. The vehicle consumes on average 9,3l/100km and produces 216g/km of CO2.
With an increase in turbo pressure and other internal changes the sportier GT S version sees power increase to 510hp with a torque of 650Nm. In this case the acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h dropped to 3.8 seconds and the top speed increased to 310km/h. The average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions grew in the GT S version to 9.4l/100km and 219g/km of CO2.
Both versions of the GT are combined with the same automatic dual-clutch seven-speed from the SLS, but with some updates.

The design of the GT maintains the exaggerated proportions of the SLS, despite receiving some details of more contemporary style compared to the more traditional lines of its predecessor. Besides receiving hinged front doors at the expense of the "gullwing" style from the SLS, the Mercedes-AMG model adopts a "liftback" tailgate instead of the conventional format, allowing better access to 350 liters capacity.
The AMG GT is slightly smaller than the SLS. Thus, it is 4546mm long, 1939mm wide and 1289mm high. That means it is 92mm shorter than the SLS AMG, but has the same width and is 27 millimeters taller.
Among the aerodynamic developments we can identify an active rear spoiler. It is embedded in the tailgate and goes up at high speed to increase downforce of the car.
As the SLS, the coupe is based on a structure of light aluminum body, which according to AMG weighs 231 kg.
