The ARO tradename actually stands for “Auto Romania”, for this was a producer of off-road vehicles set in Romania, specifically near the town of Câmpulung-Muscel. ARO manufactured its vehicles since 1957 until it went bankrupt in June 2006. This is Romania’s oldest car company and sole off-road vehicle producer.
