*Update* Alfa Romeo 4C Hustles Around Nordschleife in 8:04

*Update* It Alfa Romeo 15 days, but it finally officially revealed that the 4C lapped the 'Ring in 8:04 on September 12, 2013. It is claiming that it is the fastest time ever for a car with less than 250hp. Former Sport Auto driver and editor-in-chief Horst von Saurma drove the lap. 

The 4C accelerates to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds, has a 160mph top speed and can pull 1.1g laterally during cornering. 

The car doing the lap used Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires, which are not currently a factory option on the 4C, but they were in the factory 17in front and 18in rear sizes. The Trofeo is a road-legal performance tire. *

sports car, and to prove its worth, it sent one to the Nürburgring Nordschleife to see what kind of lap time it could do. The latest Alfa clocked a time of 8:04 around the track, which is far from the fastest time ever recorded but still puts it in some very fast company. 

Germany's Sport Auto magazine is one of the best sources for Nürburgring lap times because it uses a consistent track layout and the same driver each time. So while the track conditions may change, it at least provides some measure of objectivity. The 4C gets its speed from a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240hp and low weight thanks to a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber that keeps weight at 1,970 lbs (895 KG).
