At the last Geneva Motor Show Porsche unveiled the facelifted version of the road-track icon 911 GT3. Based on the GT3 Cup this sports car is the ultimate combination of pure racing emotion and road driving pleasure. That's why here at Autoviva we decided to gather four reasons why you will love the new 2017 Porsche 911 GT3.
Reason 1 – Faster than ever at Nürburgring
The new
911 GT3 has just beaten its predecessor time at the historic Nürburgring circuit. 7m12,7s is the new official record for
Porsche at the Green Hell however it is still not enough to beat rivals such as the Dodge Viper ACR (7.12,13), the Mercedes AMG GT-R (7.10,92), the Nissan GT-R (7.08,67), the Lamborghini Aventador SV (6.59,73) and the Lamborghini Huracán Performante (6.52,01).
Reason 2 – Perfect for the road and track
If it can drive so fast in Nordschleife, then it is ready to be driven fast in any other road on the planet. That's why we believe that the
911 GT3 is yet another proof of Porsche's ability to create an amazing car that can be taken to the limits but that can also be used on a daily basis.
Porsche has refined the chassis of the
GT3 to boost its handling characteristics. Depending on the speed, it steers either in the opposite or the same direction as the front wheels, thereby improving the vehicle’s agility and stability, making it fast on the corners and stable on the straights.
Reason 3 – More Powerful
The new
911 GT3 is more powerful than before thanks to a 4.0 direct-injection flat-six engine which gets a rigid valvetrain system taken from the
GT3 Cup. It also gets new pistons, rings, crank and bearings, as well as a more slippery cylinder liner coating to reduce friction and provide more mid-range torque. It comes with a 500hp output, 460Nm of torque and a 9000rpm redline.
With its standard seven-speed double-clutch transmission (PDK) it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 318km/h.
Reason 4 – Six-speed manual transmission is back
GT3 fans weren't very happy when the last
911 GT3 dropped the manual transmission option. But with the new model the German brand brings back a six-speed manual transmission option. However, it will only be available until October, when the transmission goes into full production.
The new option will allow the high-performance 911 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h.
Porsche 911 GT3 arriving in June

911 GT3 is available to order now and launch in Germany is scheduled for mid-June. Prices start at 152,416 euro, including VAT and country-specific equipment.
