Call it international cooperation. The French Eric Vigouroux Racing team and American Jefferies Racing team have teamed up to build prototype pickup trucks to race in the two-wheel drive class of the 2014 Dakar Rally.

The teams will build two prototype VX 101 Rally Raid Concept trucks made specifically for desert racing. They will use LS7 CorvetteCorvette Gen.6Chevrolet Corvette Gen.6United States of America, 2004 > present56 versions

“Based on our experience Jefferies Racing in California, USA, has constructed two competition vehicles. Despite Dakar 2014 being the first real competition for the EVR Proto VX 101 Rally Raid Concept, our goal is to show the world the potential of our team,” said team owner Eric Vigouroux.

This year’s event will be Vigouroux’s 14th Dakar rally, and he was the 2010 FIA World Cup Champion in the 2WD category

Dakar veteran BJ Baldwin will drive the other VX 101. He is a former Baja 500 winner and raced in the Dakar in 2010. He has raced in over 500 desert races.
