Audi will present for the fourth time in row at the Wörthersee Tour and will have its A1 taking a key role in this year’s stand. Between May 12 and 15 Audi will be in Reifnitz, in Austria, at the 29th edition of the GTI meet bringing seven totally transformed A1’s. The models will feature innovative adhesive film designs, vibrant paint finishes as well as exterior add-on parts and a matching interior. The recently premiered Audi R8 GT will also have its first presentation to the public at Wörthersee.
At the 3,000 square meter Audi stand the main focus will be on the A1 special editions.
“The Audi A1 fits in with the GTI meet because customization has always been a central topic for the Audi fans here at the Wörthersee and will also play a special role for A1 customers,” says Stefan Sielaff, Head of Audi Design.
Together with his design team, Sielaff has created seven different models especially for the Wörthersee GTI meet. One of these models features an “FC Bayern” look, with the Number 10 of FC Bayern star Arjen Robben on the roof and on the doors. The refections show off in this version thanks to adhesive design with through-colored film and digitally printed film, which handles very high-quality impression.
But not only the exterior has been handed a new look. The Audi design took inspiration from to create the Audi A1 “competition kit” which also features the “legends interior plus,” based on the Audi rally vehicles from the 1980s. Besides the Amalfi White paint finish and the original colors of the Urquattro (Begonia Red, Stone Gray and Gray Brown), the interior brings to mind memories of the racing successes of the quattro technology. For example with the center console, the door handles and the rearview mirror.
The series of A1 versions also include the “Follow Me” design in Citrus Yellow with a black checkerboard pattern, resembling airport ground control vehicles. It features complex color gradients that extend to the bicolor wheels. The “Hot Rod” model has a matt-finish look and extremely low ride height which is complemented by the wheels with white-wall tires, keeping with the classic hot rod style.
The “Wasserwacht” and “Pickerljäger” A1 special editions were created by the design team to make a reference to the site of the Wörthersee Tour, giving them a friendly wink to the local water rescue service and “toll sticker collectors”.
Finally the “Fashion” edition features an offbeat eggplant purple tone and an elegant checked pattern used both in the interior and on the exterior.
